Another Milestone achieved by penang digital library

GEORGETOWN: The long awaited Penang Digital Library Phrase 2 (PDL-P2) was launched yesterday morning by Penang Chief Minister.
The new library is four times bigger measured at 16,000 sq ft and the capacity of 540 people compared to 140 people in the first digital library.
The concept used for the construction of PDL-P2 was "Library in the Park" where the public can browse through the digital world while enjoying the natural scenery surrounding the new library.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said PDL-P2 have several buildings like 'Mansion Library', 'New Annexe', Multi-Purpose Hall, 'Wisdom Street', and a restaurant.
"The 'Mansion Library' is a comfortable reading place, while the 'New Annexe' is a learning place with meeting rooms and discussion room along with kids playground.
"The multi-purpose hall have a capacity of 200 seats, and 'Wisdom Street' is an open area for reading and interacting," said Chow
Chow said the Penang State Government have spent RM10.8 million for the construction of PDL-P2.
"The Penang State Government spent RM10.8 million on the new library to restore and transform the existing building while building additional buildings, restaurant, and the information and technology infrastructure," said Chow
Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng was present at the event and congratulated Penang for achieving another milestone with the launch of the new digital library.
